On May 30, 2016, Mt. Zion's very own Gord Taylor (left) was honoured with a "Lifetime Achievement Award" by the City of Pickering. He is pictured here with his family. We are so pleased for him and proud to have such a wonderful citizen in our Congregation!

On Wednesday, May 20th, our very own Christe Wilson gave a wonderfully inspiring presentation on "Anne of Green Gables" author Lucy Maude Montgomery! The evening was hosted by the Mt. Zion United Active Service Class and the guests enjoyed a potluck dinner before Christe's presentation. For more exciting upcoming events at Mt. Zion, click on "Special Upcoming Events".

On Sunday, June 14, 2015, the Congregation members of Greenwood United Church rang bells outside the church in celebration of the 90th birthday of the United Church of Canada! The United Church was born on June 10th, 1925.

On Sunday, June 14, 2015, the Congregation members of Mt. Zion United Church gathered together to ring bells to celebrate the 90th birthday of the United Church of Canada. There was an interesting variety of bells including antique bells, cowbells, authentic school bells, Christmas bells and many others! Here's to the next 90 years of worship. Long live the United Church of Canada!

On Monday, February 8th a great time was had by all at Mt. Zion's annual Crokinole night! We enjoyed laughter, fellowship, snacks and lots of exciting prizes. Looks like Lisa & Nancy were happy about their game!

On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, Mt. Zion's very own Tom Smart was installed as the Chair of Lakeridge Presbytery. Refreshments were served following the meeting and we are all very proud of Tom! His dedication, warm personality and wonderful sense of humour will be a delight to all those who work with him in the coming year. Congratulations Tom!

Mt. Zion United Church celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2016. Pictured here is Pastor Kim Lawrance and congregation member Fuzz Taylor cutting our cake. The service was reminiscent of an 1856 service with Fuzz Taylor delivering the sermon. Pastor Kim spoke as well, but of course in those days there would have been no female Ministers. How fortunate we are that times have changed!
